With tight deadlines and budgets it pays to employ an expert when it comes to fiming in extreme locations. Philip has worked with a number of film companies ensuring safety of crew and cast whilst organising access to harsh environments. As an IFMGA International Mountain Guide, Philip has been involved in setting rigging to allow cameramen to safely access the best positions for the most dramatic shots and supervisng the security of lighting crews and technicians. Philip is also a NEBOSH qualified safety proffessional who works within organisational Health and Safety risk assessments to ensure filming objectives are met in a safe manner. Sky Britannia II During filming in September 2018, Philip was head of cliff safety for the stunt team jumping off High Force on the river Tees. He was also in charge of mountain safety for the film crew and actors at various mountain locations in the Lake District.
BBC2 Undiscovered Worlds - Steve Backshall, Arctic Part 2 In June 2018 Philip was the Mountain Guide in charge of looking after the safety of the production crew during the filming of 'Ice Mountain' where Steve makes the first ascent of an unclimed mountain in the Stauning Alps, East Greenland.
Griff Rhys Jones "Mountain" First shown on BBC2 in 2010. Philip worked with Griff, teaching him how to rock climb for the Lake District programme of the series, so he could then be led by Philip climbing Napes Needle for the culmination of the programme.
Snow White and the Hunstman Released in June 2012, part of the filming was shot in the Lake District around the Langdales including Cathedral Quarry. Philip rigged systems to allow the safe lowering of lighting and camera equipment into the quarry and ensured security of the camera and lighting crew.
Berghaus Product testing demands exteme conditions and East Greenland provided just that. Philip worked alongside Leo Houlding with film producer Alistair Lee and cameraman David Reeves to produce the promotional film and photos for the Berghaus new clothing range. He also provided Arctic training for Leo's team in preparation for their Antarctic expedition which successfully climbed Ulvetanna 2930m in January 2013.
Tangent Expeditions Philip worked with cameraman Keith Partridge in East Greenland and supervised safety, transport and logistics for the making of Tangent's new promotional film.
Wedding T.V. "Brides on a Bus"Contestants for this television channel had to complete a cave journey through Calf Holes in Yorkshire as part of a wedding competition. With a team of cave instructors, Philip led contestants through the cave's crawls and vertical sections and ensured their safety, as well as that of the camera crew.
