"a fantastic week, especially Phil, who was brilliant."
R. W.
Philip is one of the few British Mountain Guides to hold the IFMGA canyoning award and is qualified to lead groups in canyons all over Europe.
He has been regularly canyoning in France and Spain for over 10 years and knows the areas of the Alpes Maritime and Sierra de Gaura intimately.
The Sierra de Guara in Spain, south of the Pyrenees is one of the best areas in Europe for canyoning. There is easy access from Barcelona and a wide range of grades and types of canyon. This area is ideal for families or friends who want to discover the fun of canyoning descents which can be adapted to any level. Classic descents of canyons such as the Canyon de Mascun, Perona and Canyon Formiga or Gorgonchon make this area a must for budding Canyoneers.
For wet and wild canyon adventures, the Alpes Maritime, located one hour north of Nice, are unsurpassed. The area has everything from introductory canyons for all the family such as the Canyon Audin, to the vertical canyon of the Morghe. One of the best canyons in Europe, the Maglia, can also be found here. With its jumps, abseils, swims and toboggans, this canyon is justifiably a favourite with visitors. Numerous other classic canyons are found in the area such as the Bollene with its 20m 'Grand Toboggan' as well as the Carleva and Barbera.
